William Seibel, Executive Chairman
William A. Seibel brings a wealth of entrepreneurial expertise to OpenService as Executive Chairman. Seibel continues to serve as Chief Executive Officer of Gumball LLC, a management consulting firm dedicated to helping technology CEOs rapidly scale their businesses.
Previously, Seibel was CEO and Chairman of Demantra, a supply chain and marketing analytics software company that he sold to Oracle in 2006. Prior to Demantra, Seibel was Chairman and CEO of the e-business services company ZEFER, the first internet services company to integrate e-business strategy with internet design and delivery. There he oversaw the company's growth to $138 million in revenue during its first 18 months. Prior to founding ZEFER, Seibel was Executive Vice President and a founding partner of Cambridge Technology Partners (CTP) where he launched the company's international operations and led the Americas operating unit to rapid growth and profitability. Before CTP, Seibel was Senior Vice President of Operations for Intersolv (Index Technologies), Vice President of Worldwide Development at Dun & Bradstreet Software, and held executive positions in information technology and supply chain management at Air Products and Chemicals.
Seibel also serves on the boards of JJ Wild, Ultimus, Glasshouse, and Plan4Demand. In addition, he serves on a number of charitable boards, including the Boston Public Library, Boston Chamber of Commerce, and Northeastern and Penn State Universities. Seibel holds a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering from Pennsylvania State University, an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University, and completed the Managing the Information Systems Resource (MISR) program at the Harvard Business School.
Mike Schmitt, President
Mike Schmitt ensures that OpenService customers receive the best resources, services, and support available in the network security industry today.
Schmitt brings to OpenService an entrepreneurial background in network management and security, plus extensive prior experience with NerveCenter, the company’s founding product. Before OpenService, Schmitt was a founder and Vice President of Network Management Systems at Virtela Communications, a global virtual private network services and solutions provider. He provided the initial vision and leadership at Virtela to define its services and business plan and kindle the company’s growth.
Prior to Virtela, Schmitt served as the Senior Director of Emerging Technologies at Qwest Communications where he was responsible for investigating new technologies and evaluating their revenue potential for Qwest. Before working at Qwest, Schmitt was the Network Manager of Enhanced Systems at the Sprint Internet Service Center where he developed the entire network management architecture for network operations and proactive monitoring of Internet services and Infrastructure. Schmitt also held a number of additional network support, management, and operations positions, and is a U.S. Navy veteran.
Michael Conlon, Chief Financial Officer
Michael D. Conlon has more than 18 years of financial experience, bringing OpenService vast expertise in all phases of financial management. He is responsible for all accounting processes from general ledger maintenance and analysis to preparation of tax returns and financial statements as well as payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash management and budgeting.
Before he was named CFO, Conlon was the OpenService Controller for more than two years. Prior to this role, Conlon was the CFO and Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Specialized Software International (SSI). In these positions, Conlon oversaw and managed the company’s complete financial and administrative functions, helping grow annual revenue from less than $500,000 to more than $200 million over two years. Conlon established employee policies and benefits and negotiated and maintained all financial relationships including those in banking, leasing, insurance, legal affairs, and outside accounting operations. At SSI Conlon improved investment income by over 1,000 percent and designed, developed, and implemented automated internal reporting systems which reduced costs by 15 percent. He also optimized cash flow, reduced collection time by 30 percent, designed an employee retention program which reduced employee turnover to less than 2 percent, and established and managed programs to aid legal immigration of new employees.
Before joining SSI, Conlon was an audit and tax manager for eight years. He earned a BS degree in Accountancy from Bentley College.
Geoffrey Coulter, Chief Technology Officer
Geoffrey Coulter has more than 10 years of experience in monitoring and managing massive quantities of security event data. Prior to joining OpenService in 2004, he was responsible for security operations including event management and reporting at two managed security service providers where he built real-time monitoring solutions and reporting systems. Coulter also took leadership roles developing security policies and implementing enforcement mechanisms.
As the Principal Security Architect for Managed Security Services at Sprint, he built the company’s first-generation monitoring, reporting, and incident management tools. While at Sprint, Coulter was instrumental in guiding the largest deployment of SystemWatch, the first security application developed by OpenService. Later, at Virtela Communications, Coulter served a similar role while continuing to shape the evolution of OpenService security offerings as an enthusiastic customer.
Additional experience gained in pre- and post-sales engineering roles broadened Coulter’s understanding of the enterprise event management market, providing him with the insight required to align OpenService product development with current customer requirements. Coulter is a graduate of the University of Chicago.
Bill Frank, Vice President of Sales
Bill Frank brings over 20 years of executive sales, business development, and product management leadership to OpenService with a deep understanding of the enterprise event management market. Before he was recruited to rejoin OpenService, Frank served as Vice President of North American Sales for Insightix where he opened the North American market for this Israeli network access control software company. Based on the company’s strong sales growth, Insightix secured a substantial investment from a top-tier venture capital firm.
In his initial service at OpenService, Frank held senior management positions including Vice President of Sales where he grew revenue more than 1,200 percent over five years.
Prior to OpenService, Frank provided business development consulting to Authentica (acquired by EMC), a leading Enterprise Digital Rights Management software company. Earlier, he was Vice President of Sales and Business Development for Savoy Software, which broke new ground providing Internet-based digital video security solutions using finite-state rule processing technology. Frank began his career at Unisys and then Data General (also acquired by EMC) where he held sales management and market development positions.
Frank graduated from City College of New York with a BA in Economics/Finance and completed graduate work in Information Systems at New York University's Stern School of Management.
Joni Moore, Vice President of Marketing
Joni Moore brings more than 17 years of public relations and marketing counsel to OpenService. As Vice President of Marketing, she tunes the OpenService branding, messaging, and media focus to communicate the advantages of company solutions to key audiences.
As founder and Principal of Acaggio Public Relations, Moore provides her clients with expertise particularly in the areas of networking, security and storage software and hardware, telecommunications, and biopharma. Her clients have included Network Engines, ISS, Network Intelligence, Covelight Systems, Security Curve, Bell Atlantic (Verizon), Linksys, ConnectNow, Onyx, Khameleon Software, ASA International, Longwatch, ADSI Technology, Microsoft, Zymark, and HTS BioSystems.
Previously, Moore held senior executive posts at Bell Atlantic Network Integration, Wang Global (now Getronics), Outlook Marketing Services, and Top Layer Networks. Moore helped launch more than 50 products and propelled several unknown companies into the mainstream through the pages of Forbes, Business Week, Fortune, the Wall Street Journal, the San Jose Mercury News, and Harvard Business Review – and on the air with ABC, NBC, CNN, CNBC and MSNBC.
Moore graduated Boston College with a BA in Communications and attended the George Mason University Executive MBA program
Art Zins, Vice-President of Business Development
Art Zins brings more than 25 years of experience in executive management, business development, and professional services in the networking and network security arena. Prior to OpenService, Zins was the Director of Business Development & Channels at Top Layer Networks, a vendor of Intrusion Prevention Systems. While at Top Layer, he developed partnerships with leading systems and technology companies and managed the company’s channels program. Before Top Layer, Zins was the Vice President of Business Development at NIKSUN, a network management and security vendor. At NIKSUN, Zins was responsible for strategic partnerships and channels, including important relationships with IBM and MicroMuse.
Prior to Top Layer and NIKSUN, Zins was a Director of New Business Development at EMC where he established partnerships with emerging technology companies in the networked storage market. Before joining EMC, Zins held executive positions at Digital Equipment Corporation and Compaq in networking, software and professional services.
Zins earned an MS in Management (MBA) from the MIT Sloan School. He also holds an ASEE degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology and a Certificate in Management from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
